I am a Japanese living in Japan. On this page, you will find a 3 minutes route from the Yamanote Line inner tracks platform of Ueno Station to the Tokyo Metoro Ginza Line using the escalator.

The station attracts a lot of people. Get out as fast as you can!

1.What car and what door should I use to get to the Tokyo Metoro Ginza Line in 3 minutes?

You can use door No. 4 on the left side of car No. 6 or door No. 1 on the left side of car No. 5. Let’s move to there first.

The first car of the Yamanote Line inner tracks train is No.11, so car No.5 is one car behind car 6 in the center.

Check the platform door before you get on the train and move!

If you get lost on the platform where you got off, look for door No.4 of car No.5 on the platform door. If you start from there, you can get there without getting lost.

Look for door No.4 of car No.5 on the platform door of platform No.2, which has one green line. Please do not make a mistake.

3.About the escalator to use

This is a guide to the escalator you will use. Yamanote line inner tracks trains stop at 2F, platform No. 2.

First, look for door No.4 of car No.5 on the guide map below. The escalator you will be using is located at 3.

In the platform map above, the direction of travel is on the left, so after getting off the train, you should go backward (left) which is the opposite direction of travel.

Tip.
You can use the magnified view to display the platform map vertically in a larger size.
If you point the top of the screen in the direction the train is going, it will stop at the station in the same way, so it’s easy to visualize. door No.4 of car No.5. Don’t forget ^^.

 

4.Route to Tokyo Metoro Ginza Line in 3 minutes

The red line is the route from the 3 escalator to the Tokyo Metoro Ginza Line in 3 minutes. The distance is about 215m. Moving from the 2F Yamanote line outer tracks platform to the B1F.

This time we will use the 3 escalator. It is located on the left side of car No.5, right after getting off from door No.4.

The inner trains enter the station from the north, so the upper part of the map is Okachimachi, one stop previous, and the lower part is Uguisudani, the next stop.

5.Explanation of how long it will take to travel

The distance from the 3 escalator to the Tokyo Metoro Ginza Line is about 215m.

The time taken is calculated using the commonly used 80m per minute, and any remainder is rounded up to the nearest minute.

From 3 escalator to the Tokyo Metoro Ginza Line
(80m x 2 min) + 55m
So, I rounded up to 3 minutes.

This does not consider the waiting time for stairs, escalators, and elevators along the way, so please allow a little extra time if you have it.
